General Chat / Re: What are YOU doing with your life?
September 02, 2010, 08:27:12 PM
Idly getting through University, with a degree in Mathematics. In the end I'd like to teach, but I'll leave that for when I'm old and decrepit, and can mull over the life of kids these days (I do already... meh).

My end goal is to tear down this sad attempt of an education system we have, but before that... anything works.

Quantum Mechanics in second year was truly painful. My professor was German and used German words to differentiate certain concepts from their traditional meanings, whether it was more confusing or not (generally was). His accent was so heavy it was nearly impossible to hear... and his writing was worse. He generally found it easier not to complete words and a lot of his symbols looked exactly the same (he made phi's and psi's identical). The hardest part was definitely the tests though, which just gave you every reason to cry.

Needless to say I failed that class and vowed never to take it again.

General Chat / Where to start?
September 02, 2010, 08:09:38 PM
So I'm not exactly new... I was hosted here and enjoyed the company of Xepher and some others I still see around 4-6 years ago and have been trying to come back regularly but high school and university had different plans for me.

I'm currently enrolled in a co-operative program at my school, so I switch between school terms and work terms for 5 years. Heading into work term in a city far from any friends or family (thank god) I thought I'd put some serious work into rebuilding my little corner of the web, for the sake of practice...

I've been out of the game for so long though I hardly know where to start. I'm fairly sure I won't be asking for hosting at Xepher again, as I'll just be playing with the website to showcase my programming and scripting skills rather than actually displaying work, but I have no idea who else I would be hosting with, as Xepher was definitely my best hosting experience ever. I have a little cash for setting up, but seriously, where do I start?

General Chat / Re: Does all work suck?

Super interested in this. I've been in school in a co-operative program for the last 2.5 years, about to enter into an 8 month work term. I'm just beginning to realize that as much technical skill as I do have, I can't live without social interaction. I've done two work terms before this, one as a Software Test Specialist and as an Internal Developer and I have to say that while the job at the second place was much more interesting, the lack of social people sucked platypus eggs. At least as a Software Test Specialist, my team was crazy and I just loved coming to work to do stupid stuff.

I still miss waitressing, just because every day brought in new customers and stories and situations. I waitressed for 2 years in high school and loved it.

so I remerge about six months after I declared a new life... but Xepher is still the biggest stress reliever on the web :D

As a peace offering I present you with some amusement:

I haven't found much on there but there are some good links, such as this one.

 Hello everyone!!

General Chat / Happy Hump Day!
November 29, 2006, 03:33:12 AM
... I think this proves I can only spend so many months away from this place. MAN I miss it.

I love hump days. 8 hour school days and judo and work,  volunteering, manga editing, house chores, I need intellectual release! (and I know I'm not gonna find it in my fart-jokes loving friends).

But yeah.. Hump days mean I only have 7 hour days of not being at home for the rest of the week! Weeeee.

Hey Guys! Some of the older people may remember me, but it's not like the newer people have to anyways...

I'm here to announce I'm closing my website on here, cause I can't keep up with it and it's just taking up space, really. I've already deleted everything, and saved what I've needed. I'm heading for a fresh start- basically leaving most of my accounts from before 2005/06.  It's been fun you guys. Maybe I'll come around again sometime in the future, open a new website when I can manage it.

Oh well. Once again, see you guys later. Thanks for the fun ride ^_^.

Xepher: Please delete my account sometime, eh? Thanks!

Announcements / Status, Plans, and Questions...

Slower than a glacier, apparently :P

1. About the same response as everyone else here. My website's not the most anticipated thing on the web, anyways. I'm fine with it.

2. Webserver
SCP
Email (username@xepher.net)
Webmail
POP3
POP3S
SMTP
Spam filtering
SQLite (Later)
PHP
Other CGI (Working on it!!)

3. Quite honestly I'm pretty okay with anything you decide to do, cause I know you're not gonna be compromising too much of one for another (at least, I'll be fine with it). Go ahead Xeph!

4. I'm fine. Nothing's been too much for me.

5. It's great! I'm fine with the service I've been getting. Actually, I've found myself bragging about my luck of finding Xepher to other people looking for webhosts and complaining about costs. haha...

6. Sorry, I'm not much of a advertiser. Though, if we could, I'm sure a lot of us know a couple of peoples who fall under such a category. I'm sure we could round up some people who are tired of paying for web costs and wouldn't mind sharing the costs ^_^

7. I want the polls back, haha. Used to be active in the applications section but after they built up I kind of zoned out. I wouldn't mind a limit, either.

I was showing US at school... the computer froze and kept replaying the scene with batman and chuck noris...

Also, a teacher walked in right when batman ran over Aaron Carter and Shaq, and was there at the batmobile scene.

needless to say, I'm not allowed to show that one at school no more...

Awesome video, by the way. I wanna grow up to be just like her!
