Misc. Content / PHP Scripting Help please~
August 23, 2007, 11:47:24 PM
So, while I was waiting till xepher is finished with everything, I thought it'd be productive to actually work on a site, just for practice and stuff.
I installed Cutenews, Bellabook, and phpBB forum. Cutenews and Bellabook are going smoothly, except for phpBB Forums. :(
I haven't a clue what's going on with the PHP script. [here]
It says:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: session_pagestart() in /home/www/izufable.awardspace.com/forum/includes/functions.php on line 756
???
If you could tell me what's wrong or fix it for me, that'd be greatly appreciated. :-\

Hosting Q&A / Re: Is Linking to Downloads okay?

I'm planning on applying for a site here (again). In your rules, you said we can't host download-ables that aren't ours, right? I'm asking is linking to the program's download site okay.

I'm with you on the idea. Learning from a program like Front Page is good. May I please see an example of what you can do now?

Ouch. I think a new community started by you, Xepher, would be a great idea. But then again, there are people out there who love to spam and cause a lot of drama. And even if you give them guidelines, those people probably wouldn't read it or understand it.  :-\

Hosting Q&A / Is Linking to Downloads okay?
July 10, 2007, 12:03:42 AM
I mean.. I'm did a tutorial on the FTP thing. And I want to link to the site that lets you download the program. Oh-no. It's not from a website where joined programs share trials. Say, I'm doing SmartFTP. I'm going to link to their site: {SmartFTP.COM}. Since it's their site, I don't think it's illegal to link to these for people to download. Is that okay with you, Xepher?

Yeah. But like I said. We're (or at least some of us) are little kids.  :D And we're way too afraid of the big guys telling us what to do. But you're right. I get frustrated too when I'm doing something nice, and well.. people just don't listen.  ;D

Not to sound rude or anything, but have you tried google??
I know I know. But things are so confusing for me, I have to sign up for an account and then probably waste a few minutes of my life using a 'not-good enough' guestbook. I'm just asking if you guys recommend a good guestbooks like those examples.  :)

if you have shell access to both systems, a few linux-fu commands can move your site pretty quick (even your database)
Thanks. Maybe I'll try that. Once Xepher can take my new application.  :D

I seem to have a problem with both of them.

With the bookie, it uses PHP. I don't understand PHP at all, so it's hard for me to understand anything or customize.

With the dreambook, I have to make an account with dreamhost. And it's definitely not free.

Hm.. I personally use {CBOX.WS}.   :)There's no downloading or anything. An easy code- iframe. I'm sure Xepher.net can take it. :/ I don't know what else you mean.  :(

(LOL) A couple of posts I see are "spam" and "jokes" and "posted by people who don't read the rules". And ,(please don't yell at me), I find it when Mr. Xepher tries to make things clear and explain things in a mature manner, the person spoken too feels stupid and sorta dissappears. Well, that happened to me. LOL. I didn't have FTP when he told me that FTP was what I needed to make my site... I ran away, too. But... well... here I am. Back! In a new account, though.  :(
It's like some of us are little kids, and Mr. Xepher seems to be the policeman. *shrug* just a thought that came into mind.  :)

Oops. I forgot to explain. I'm Tsunami-Yusa. But for some reason, xepher won't let me log in. :/ So I had to create this new one. ^^"

That's why I'm asking you about this before I consider giving you a site. There is NO site builder at all. You can upload files via SCP or FTP, and that's pretty much it. I'd like to see some example that you can actually create stuff without the aide of site-builder-like tools.
Okay. FINALLY I got a hold of one of those nifty FTP programs. :/ But frankly, I'm a bit too lazy to move things to xepher. A few months ago, I was using awardspace.

But THANK YOU for showing me the world of FTP!   :D My uploading days are easier. REAL easier. *huggle*
