Gonna use this forum software on the new server I think. After I went through all the trouble converting stuff to test it. I figured it made more since to switch to them now, so there's no need to do another entire conversion in the future. It seems to have properly imported all the data/users/etc. from the last forum, so I don't think there's a downside to things.
If you have trouble with things, let me know.
Some nifty new features include the ability to attach files/images directly to posts, better search functionality, great spam protection, spell checking, and many other things which I'm sure I haven't discovered yet. :-)
So it occurs to me that "Hero Member" sounds pretty fracking stupid. Below are the postcounts/tags for the "stared" groups. Help me pick new names/requirements.

I was never much for preassigned names... *shrug*
Well, what "theme" are you going to use for the names? It's kinda important in the whole creation of the names themselves (also would be neat to have names for higher than 500's :P).
Yea, themes are always kinda fun.
I don't know, that's why I'm asking for suggestion! :-)
Yeah, more than 500, I can do that too. If you'll recall, my old post count was slightly exaggerated. Converted to the new forum it triggered some easter-egg-like feature I couldn't disable. Rather than showing my post count or rank, it simply said "I'm a nerd!" for the count under my name. Anyway, I don't really care how it's setup either, so have fun. I'll probably change the titles from time to time too, just for the heck of it. Thus, any ideas/themes/etc are welcome.
I suggest science as a theme... now to think of actual titles.
it's so...bright! O.o;;
Eyes watering...
Color scheme is a bit hard on my eyes (darker is better, in most cases) but other than that, looks spiff!
You can probably use another theme, if Xeph has them installed. Or turn down the brightness/contrast on your monitor. :P
I have themes disabled at the moment. It's probably gonna stay that way at least until the new server. Sorry.
I was thinking Spore based stage names would be funny, but so far, I'm stuck at Molecular Mishap and Super Swimmer. There's Tribal, Civilization, and Galactic domination phases afterwards.
y'know, this does not keep me logged in all the time :(
I checked my cookies... Xepher.net or www.xepher.net are not cookie blocked... :/
Odd I don't have any issues, are you using IE or FF?
FF
I have FF 2.0 and I am logged in all the time....
make sure that your settings aren't screwed up for sessions and caching
go into the top bar where you'd enter a url and type in about:config
then look for things like session and cache.
Firefox has an option to limit cookies to the life of the browser session. When you close the browser, it destroys all cookies.
Edit:Preferences:Privacy:Cookies:Keep Until:They Expire
Also make sure you haven't check the option to "Always clear my private data when I close firefox"

but.. I want it to ask my permission to set cookies each time! I permanantly deny almost all of them asside from the sites I need to log in to. Can;t it do both? I select "Yes" and "Always remember for this site" for the ones I log into... but it still cancels when I close the window
*cries*
You can add Xepher.net under "Exceptions" I think. Set it to "Allow" and I think it means Xepher.net will always be allowed, no matter what. Or maybe until the natural life. I've got a few sites saved under there so I don't have to log in again and again....
I do and I have... still logs me out :( Stupid FF.
Are you sure FF isn't clearing privacy stuff when you close the window? It's seperate from cookie settings. Check Options: Privacy: Settings: Clear Private Data When Closing Firefox.
There is no "Settings" part under privacy :/
also, odd thing is this: The blank "log-in" fields where there again and said I was a "guest" but when I clicked a thread and came in (without logging in), it said I was logged in... weird :/
It's possible your ISP is doing some sort of proxying/caching maybe. Showing you old versions of a page or some such. Weird, and I don't really know... just guessing.

You must be using a version of FF I'm with which I'm not familiar. I use FF 1.5.0.11 and 2.0.0.3 for Windows, and there're Settings buttons under privacy.
The roundabout way of checking is in about:config (type about:config into the URL window and go). Look for privacy.sanitize.sanitizeOnShutdown and privacy.item.cookies. sanitizeOnShutdown says whether or not data will be cleared when you close FF, and item.cookies says if cookies will be cleared.
And, like Xepher, I've no idea what's up with that latest thing.
So I guess no one's used it, because no one reported it broken, but the spell checker now works... at least for english. Seems I had the spellcheck software installed, but no dictionary. Heh. Anyway, spellcheck button at the bottom of posts should work if you want it. If it doesn't work for you, let me know. I've been using firefox all this time, and it auto-checks anything put into text boxes, so I've never tried the forum one before.
.... hwat the fuck is spelcheck?
