Title: Finnegan's Follies (artwork and maybe some light writing and animations)
Post by: FinneganHound on March 06, 2010, 05:14:43 AM
Username: Finnegan or FinneganHound
Email: animebrat90@yahoo.com

So I just want somewhere that is mine. Some place that I can customize how I see fit, and post things that I like without fear of being trolled incessantly or things like that. I would be posting mostly artwork, both digital and traditional, as well as any animations I make in school or in my free time. I will admit, I don't know much about HTML or coding, but I would learn as fast as I could. I want this more than I've ever wanted anything before in my life... I am tired of the idiots on FurAffinity who needlessly fill my page with creepy, ridiculous comments, and the self-absorbed trolls in furries' clothing that strut about like a new rooster.

No porn on this site. Not just because it isn't allowed, but because I want this page to be more professional. I want this website to be something that I can proudly show potential employers, schoolmates, friends and family without fear that they'll stumble upon my dirty little secret.

http://finneganhound.deviantart.com/ This isn't everything I have done. Most of it is on FurAffinity, which I hesitate to post here, as I didn't separate my porn from my non-porn onto separate accounts. But I will link it if anyone thinks it will help.

First of all, your username is your URL. That means no capital letters. This is stated elsewhere on the site, but it seems that someone has to say that in every application anyway. It's like people don't read or something.

Second of all, the application. I'm not a furry myself so I won't judge...at the very least, you have a style that is consistent, which is more than a lot of folks can say. However, Xeph is going to have to see an example website from you at some point, one that you've made for yourself and *not* a DA page. You would also need to know your way around SCP, as that's the only way to upload content to the web space. If you don't know what that is, then you're in trouble.

Overall your application isn't lacking per se, but I'm not sure what having a website that you can't yet even code properly would do for you. If you dislike getting asinine comments on your work most art sites like DA have an option to turn off comments entirely now, and Sheezy Art lets you customize your page from the ground up.

Mostly, I'm just not seeing the point.

I wouldn't actually stress so much on SCP.  Just look into how to use WinSCP.  It's a free software which is fairly simple and straight forward to use.  It operates very much like most FTP software out there, so if you know how to use that you'll be fine.

You probably should demonstrate some web-design skills though.

Yes, web design examples would help. Your art is... well, "consistent" and we'll leave it at that for now.

QuoteI don't know much about HTML or coding, but I would learn as fast as I could.

Learn first! Act later! There are ways to do that freely, too. The learning/experimenting with code, that is. Promises of what's to come generally don't work too well in applications. Show a little something, even if it isn't pretty...

Never heard from you, so I'm locking this one. Open a new application if you wish to reapply in the future.
