Yeah, the pie fight was awesome and the divining rod made me laugh.  I also liked how the female started knitting while the bomb was just sitting there.

Ah, okay, thanks, Xepher and glad to have helped out.  I've actually been meaning to change my password to the one I picked, but I just haven't yet.

Databits: I use gmail.  Want to come over to the dark side?

How long should it take the verification email to get to us after we fill out our details?  I filled out one an hour or so ago? from your email notification and no verification with login information email sent.

I thought I did something wrong, or was not remembering things right.  In a mistake, I clicked the link in your post, got a new hash string, and it said an email had been sent with the new URL, but I checked my account and nothing, not even in the spam folder.

I copied and pasted the string onto the end of the old URL and filled out the form again, but I also did not get a return email either.  Are you getting the information or is this some kind of bug?

Ah, cool.  In the past, I've usually stuck the newsbox in a 200px column, so I was hoping it would be vertical more than horizontal. :)  When you do account confirmations, should we also have an image prepared?  Or is this something you've already (or will) take care of?

Web Design / Re: subdomain vs. domain

EDIT: Fixed it! (For once, I do things right!)
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^chanpuru\.org$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*) http://chanpuru.org/$1 [L,R=301]

Removed the slash in the RewriteRule ^ bit.  Thank you!

And I just got your title.  And had to play the mp3.

That sounds good!  I'm just wondering how large the images would be.  Is this going to be a 300x300 type ad, one of those long vertical ones like on Fes' site, a standard width banner, etc.?

Oops, sorry, when they do a straightforward search for "anime episode summaries".  Most of my affiliates and link exchanges have updated their links to the chanpuru address and I've submitted a sitemap with every page with the chanpuru address starting every link.

Thanks for the apache redirect idea...I'll start looking up how to do it. :)  I have a PHP redirect for the old grieversanime.org domain, but I guess that didn't work.

Web Design / subdomain vs. domain
June 08, 2007, 08:26:19 AM
Maybe someone who knows how search engines work can help me out here.  I switched my domain names in February/March.  Not surprisingly, traffic has dropped (but it's slowly rebounding!).  However, search engines still favor the xepher.net subdomain over my real domain, sometimes by a page or so of returned search results.  Any idea how I can fix this?  Or is it just a matter of time?

Yep, button background color in the Xepher.net box code.  I think.

Much nicer, IMHO.  *prods the red donation button*  Owie. :P

QuotePasswords are now going to be checked for cryptographic strength too.
Will you also be requiring people to change their passwords every x-many months?  I know you didn't mention this before, but I was just wondering if this was part of the cryptographic strength.

Also, are you doing away with the counter?  I notice you didn't mention it in the newsbox portion.

I think that the donation button should be on the same line as the title and possibly larger.  I think it might draw more attention at the top, rather than the bottom of the box.  Or, alternatively, have the button be separate (and graphical) and let users position it.  With all the content in the newbox as it is, the donate button is overshadowed.

A few thoughts on the network of sites:
-A series of links to a category page that would then list the site with the description
-A gallery-type list of sites
-What DeviantArt does - a category dropdown and then a list of all the stuff in that category.

Quote from: Desh on June 06, 2007, 05:46:27 PMThe pages feel slightly chaotic.  It's mainly the index and bottom of the pages.
Actually, I have to agree.  Maybe it's a clash of personal aesthetics, but having to search for the menu on each page makes me want to hit the back button.

Aside from that, I do like the color scheme.  I haven't seen that color used as much.  The red donate button, which I think I know why it's red, bleeds into the background though, so maybe a darker red would help it?
