Hosting Q&A / Re: HTML requirements?

Yeah, the previous apps are a good way to see what is expected. You can use whatever you want and upload the finished files, but nothing is provided to help you create pages on this end.

I believe you may be in the wrong place. Xepher.net is a website hosting service for comics and artists. You might want to look at the user directory to see if there was a particular artist you were trying to contact. http://xepher.net/sitedirectory.php

If you have a support or hosting related question, there are Hosting Q&A and Technical Support areas of the forums for that. If you need to contact me directly/personally, my email contact info is on the front page of xepher.net itself (in the bottom left corner) and you can email my admin address as shown there.

Ah... I am a moron. I had ad-block on, so it was hiding things as expected. Doh! I turned it off and looked at stuff. Looks legit enough to me, so go for it. If I ever see it offering a free iPad though, we shall have words! :-P

Can you give me an example of what it looks like on a site that uses it? I visited several sites linked from their front page, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for on the actual pages? Is there a banner or "ad" somewhere on linked sites?

I'm back... and nothing blew up this time!

Had a fun time, and enjoyed the cool air... I've been back in Houston 2 hours now, and already spent 2/3 of it sweating like a pig. I so hate this city.

Taking off on Sunday to spend a week camping in Colorado. I'll be offline for most of that, so any requests will have to wait until I get back. I cannot WAIT to escape this heat though. Going from 103F here to overnight lows around 38F. (That's basically 40C to 4C.) Awesome! Also going to try to climb Mt. Elbert which is the highest peak in Colorado, and the second highest in the continental US.

General Chat / Aqaubats

So, I've been waiting months to post th 1,000th topic on these forums. Yes, it's a sign of just how slow things really are that it's taken months just to get a few new topics. On the other hand, The Aquabats have a new album out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk8WTnCx9RM&list=PL32CA82CE5FA89E96&index=1

If that doesn't justify the 1,000th topic, I don't know what does!

(And yes, The Legend Is True!)

Announcements / Upgrades
June 12, 2011, 09:03:59 AM
Lots of upgrades this time around. The new forum software is an obvious one (go check it out), but I've also upgrade a lot of the backend software. I'm also switching to a slightly different setup for apache as well. As usual, let me know if you run into problems.

Cool. Always fun to play with automated stuff like that, just to see what you get.

Homebuilt CNC Machines... DO WANT!

http://buildyourcnc.com/blackToe2x4v40.aspx

I spent a couple hours looking around at these things. I'd wanted a 3D printer for a long time, but the homebuilt ones just aren't extremely precise, and the materials are kinda weak usually. This though, even built out of plywood, it's amazingly accurate and can basically let you carve/cut anything you can get into a computer, and materials like plastic, wood, and metal are just as strong and useful as anything you'd get from a manufacturing plant. Of course, I'd probably need a full-on shop to go with one of these!

I think I'm already friends with both of you on Steam, but for anyone else, it's Xepher42, just like for chat.

Announcements / Outage on June 1st
June 02, 2011, 04:36:46 AM
Apache was down for most of the day, as I didn't get home from work until just now. It appears the monthly log rotation didn't properly restart things after it finished this morning. I've fixed it and things are now back up and running. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you to all of you that sent me messages to let me know.

EDIT: I've set up server monitoring on my phone now. Hopefully that'll help me catch things a lot quicker next time there's a problem.
