Unique smile, tickyhead! :] Reminds me of the Cheshire cat~

Um...That's what it is. So, thanks?

Well it's after the 25th, anyone want to put up a new challenge?

I'm not sure whose face scares me more, Xeph...the guy's or the ball's. It's a complement, honest!

Ah what the hell, I'll get in on this too. Here's mine!

I tried to play with perspective, which I feel like I'm slowly getting better at...slowly.

For some reason, a smiling football made me think of the Cheshire Cat...so that's what I drew. Then I got bored so I added filters galore. Whoo!

Total time...probably 20 minutes.

Is it bad that the one thing I kept thinking was that you didn't use the original Loituma and Numa songs, and that the Caramelldansen dance was animated too slow?

I think I spend too much time on the internet, because that was really fun to watch...

General Chat / Re: Favorite Webcomic?
June 19, 2008, 04:49:47 AM
Indeed, Xeph. Trying to make me choose favorites out of all the ones I read!? That's just mean...

I guess I'll say my favorite is Gunnerkrigg Court, because I'm a mythology geek and the author is incredibly good at blending old mythos with his own world. A close second might be Dresden Codak or DMFA...

One that not many might have heard of...well I don't know, I'll just throw out one called Five Star. It's on Girlmatic, so I guess anyone who keeps up with that site would know about it...

Aaaand a new one I really like would have to be Order Of The Stick, which I finally read the entirety of back in April. All I can say is why oh why did I not start reading this sooner!?

I'm tired from a vacation, so apologies if I sound off.

Oh, another one!

Ironically, not sitting.

I like my motivational posters short and sweet. but D&D references are always good, too.

I forgot about this one... http://xepher.xepher.net/Pictures/index.php?display=SA%20Zoo%2Fdsc_0004.jpg

I want to make it into a motivational-poster type funny picture. I figure two ducks sitting in the grizzly enclosure has got to be a punchline for something... I just can't figure out what.

How about...

Yeah, not the best.

General Chat / Re: What is Life?
April 22, 2008, 05:47:39 AM
D'oh, not again. Curse you, Fes! XD

Anyway, I like to think the point of life...is relative? I dunno. I think doing what you can with what you've got is the best way I can put it... Enjoying it to the fullest, doing good for the sake of good, not because big-godly-brother is watching you, et cetera. Stuff that advances humanity both as a culture and as a species, that sort of thing.

I really do think about these things, honest, I just can't really explain it in words...well I can, but it might end up being very, very long, so I'm not going to.

As for whether it all means anything at the end of the day, well...I personally hate the very idea of religion with a passion, but that doesn't mean I think we're all nothing but worm food. :P

If you know how to code, good ol' notepad works just fine.

I myself use AceHTML simply because it color-codes everything, and I make typos fairly often so it's good to know what's what. (plus it's free... >> )

But theoretically, notepad is all you need.

Applications / Re: Nightwolf Art (Application)
March 23, 2008, 10:26:32 PM
I think you aren't exactly comprehending what I'm saying.

Unless you have personally shot or created every graphic on your site that you are claiming is "your art", then you are stealing someone else's work. Case in point: the picture of an angry looking cow and the cartoon with the dogs. I am asking you if you made the actual pictures by yourself, by hand, in PSP, painting in every single line, every single color. Even if they are the artwork of this "Penny" person, unless you state it somewhere on the actual website, it still counts as claiming someone else's work as your own. For someone who claims "give credit where credit is due," you seem to know little about actual copyright "etiquette."

Not only that, but even though you are still new at PSP, your skills are incredibly lacking compared to the usual caliber on this website. You have squished pictures, grainy and pixelated borders, cheap effects, and not much in the way of talent in my opinion. It seems like all you're really doing is slapping on a few pre-made effects from PSP onto someone else's pictures and calling it your own "art."

I'm going to put my vote as a big fat "no" here. Come back when you have something that the internet genuinely needs to see, not cheap effects from PSP used...well, cheaply. There's already thousands of people doing exactly what you are now, be they on geocities or in some other back-alley of the interwebs; what makes you so different?

Applications / Re: Nightwolf Art (Application)

Mmkay, first off: it's generally a bad sign if you have to actually install a strange, unknown software in order to view an applicant's work. Just saying.

That being said, your offerings are extremely lacking. Every single one uses stock images that you had no hand in creating, and are little more than boring text effects and glaring backgrounds. I really don't see anything artistic, or even remotely creative, in any of it. Again, no offense.

So I now have to question: Were you, in fact, the person who drew that first picture on your application? Or did you simply add the cheesy border and text? Do you have any actual "art" that involved your own creativity stashed somewhere deep in the confines of your hard drive, or is it all just clip art and cheap effects?

I would direct you to a few select copyright laws, most pertaining to giving credit where credit is actually due, but I'm willing to give you a chance if you have something that is genuinely yours, and yours alone, to show to us.

Running late, yadda yadda.

Art is nice, although points off for caramelldansen references....*shudder* so scary...

It'd be nice to see the website in action, but you've got time. Make it shine!

Gotta go.

I'll make this quick since I have to run to get ready for class.

Your web design won't be winning any awards for originality, but it proves you can at least make a site.

However, we'll also be needing more examples of your artwork and animations, I think. So far it's the funny little picture and whatever can be found on your sites, which mostly look like clip art. No offense if it's your actual work.

That's all.

Oh, yeah, and no need to worry about a "button." Xepher.net comes with its own webring/link exchange thing.

Applications / Re: Celebrate films
February 15, 2008, 03:10:25 AM
Well, it proves you can make one....I have a little nitpicking to do, though.

First off, I'm sure it would look much better if the whole layout was actually centered (right now it shows up like this on my screen) this can easily be remedied simply by putting <center> right after <body> and </center> right before </body>, though I'm sure someone like Databits would think up some wonderfully complicated way to do that, too. Also on the subject, I looked through your website code and you've got multiple </body> </html> tags at the bottom. Just to keep it clean, you should probably remove any extra tags like that that you might have missed)

These are indeed better than the previous showings. I especially liked the second one. I have to wonder why you would want to show us a video of you making toast, rather than these?

After seeing these I'd be okay with you being hosted here, I suppose. But is it possible for you to make a mock-up site to show that you can actually code a website? I'm sure you'll have time--these applications usually take a week or two at the least (unless everyone hates you, then it goes by fairly quickly ;) )
