I saw this in another forum, and I thought it was a pretty nice cheerful thread.

So, tell us what made your day/week/month/life!

Feel free to keep posting with each new happy update.

huh... I'll never be able to participate in this thread... ever....

Gee, thanks for ruining all the happy, Fes. Now we're going to be depressed, which is about as opposite from the thread's original purpose as you can get. :\

General Chat / It's a worriesome day.
April 07, 2009, 07:19:20 PM
Today, in my first class, a girl I only just recently started talking to came in late, stumbling as if she were drunk. Her features were drowsy and her manner strange, so after she had sat down and settled in I asked her if she was alright. It turned out that she had taken way too many of her anxiety pills last night in an attempt to kill herself.

After class, I insisted that I walk her back to her car, as she had to move it because she had parked in a place she wasn't supposed to. She could barely stand straight, wobbling as she walked, and she was still very giddy (a lot like a drunk), so I also insisted that I'd drive her car. (I've had my license for a few years, and her car was an automatic and standard size, so not too hard to drive. The drive was pretty short, anyway.)

So I drove her car to the visitor parking lot. She didn't have a parking pass for campus since she normally gets dropped off, so I told her I'll pay for the day price of her parking in the visitor lot (it's $12 at most) instead of her having any problem getting towed. I parked her car and walked her to class, trying but failing to get her to go to the health clinic.

I got her number, told her to call me once she got out of class, and dropped her off in front of the classroom. That was at 10:40am.

I just got a text from her saying that she's in the ER at 2:30pm. I tried calling her, but she didn't answer.

I know it's weird, we're not close friends, or really friends at all. But do we need to be for me to care? I don't know what to do. I'm really worried, but most of all, I feel like I didn't do enough. I didn't make her go to the health clinic when I knew she wasn't well.

Sorry for ranting, guys. You don't have to reply, I just feel like I needed to get that off my chest for now... I'm going crazy just waiting.

Knowhow Trading Post / Cutting Down Files
March 16, 2009, 09:06:53 PM
...or whatever you call it.

I have a copy of Serenity at 720p (.mkv), so yeah, it's pretty huge (almost 7 GB). Thing is, I'm reformatting my computer and such a large file won't transfer over to my external hard drive. How do I compress it to a smaller size, or slice it into several different smaller parts?

General Chat / When, if ever...
February 18, 2009, 06:52:13 PM
...did you find out what you wanted to do with your life?

Did you know from an early age? Did you find it out because of some major event? Or are you still trying to figure it out?

I'm still trying to figure that one out. (Not really in any rush.) Just wondering how it goes for other peeps. :]

Knowhow Trading Post / Job Hunting
October 08, 2008, 09:18:16 PM
I have seriously tried every place around my school and the jobs are all dried up. Most of my school comes from this state, so they got there first. :(

I was wondering if anyone had a good idea or two on how a college student could make a little extra cash?

I was going to try offer commissions, but right now I can't use my tablet and yadda yadda long story.

Knowhow Trading Post / Writing a Resume
September 06, 2008, 03:21:58 PM
I never really learned how to write one. I'm hoping to get one done over this weekend, but the university help offices are closed until Monday (also because we have a tropical storm). Can someone gimme a hand and tell me how it all works? E.g. the format?

Thanks! :]

Knowhow Trading Post / External Print Server
August 23, 2008, 07:41:41 PM
Anyone know how to step an "External Print Server"?

My new printer didn't come with a USB cable (apparently you have to buy it seperate, dang-it) so I thought I might take the time to learn how to set up a wireless printer, if possible.

Thanks! :)

(Oh yeah, if the info is needed, my printer is an Epson Stylus C120. I have a Dell Latitude D620 laptop.)

Art / New Art Challenge Forum :)
July 12, 2008, 09:28:15 AM
I felt bad that I missed out on the original "Art Challenge" topic started by phantasus! I didn't feel like I should drag out the old thread, so I thought I'd start up a new one!

- Once a week a topic is chosen.
- You draw something about that topic before the week is up.
- You can spend as much time on it as you want, but it's preferred that this is for practicing quick drawing/painting.
- It can be lack & white, monotone, or full blown color, whatever you like!

So, you guys up for it?
We could also change the time from one week to longer, if that might encourage more to try. Some people lead busy lives but would still like to have a little fun.

Also, suggestions for topics would be great! :)

Remember, give credit to phantasus and thank 'em for such a great idea. ;D

Art / Favorite Inking Pens
July 12, 2008, 09:06:29 AM
Alrighty, I've used every pen type listed above (among several others) but I still have to find one that doesn't bleed when I color with my Prismacolor markers.

I give the piece a good waiting time between inking, erasing pencil lines, and coloring but this still happens. (so sad) :(

I'm not very good with the traditional pen & nib inking sets, so no suggestions for that please. I'd prefer to find a good technical pen set.

Thanks~  :)

Knowhow Trading Post / Wow... I forgot so much
April 13, 2008, 02:21:53 AM
Stay away from HTML/CSS/etc. coding for a year and now I've realized that I forgot nearly everything. =O

Gah, sorry to be a bother, but can anyone point me in the direction of some good tutorials? I've got the basics of HTML down pretty well, just looking into the more technical stuff (MySQL, php, even just uploading onto a server...).

Yay for newbness all over again! =D Hehehe

Thanks =]

Knowhow Trading Post / Which web design software?
April 10, 2008, 04:43:13 PM
Wow, I didn't know that Adobe now owns Dreamweaver.  :o

Anyhow, I'm getting back into the web design thing, so I'm trying to figure out which new software to get!

I've been leaning towards Dreamweaver CS3, since I know enough to be comfortable with it, but I've been wondering about Adobe Web Design CS3?

Anyone got the Adobe Web Design software? Reviews, please. =]

Some side notes on what my web-design preferences are:
- Not into using Flash.
- Lots of picture posting.
- Enable interaction between web host and visitors (commenting, etc.)

...or maybe I should just go back to writing everything in Notepad, like the old days, heh.
