Hope you had a great time. What are the snow conditions like around there?

We had horrible winter weather so far here in NL. We had like NO snow until today when we are hit with a 25-30 cm blizzard. Now as I'm not as outdoorsy here in the city as I was in my hometown so the pile of snow neither pleases or upsets me. But my co-workers are avid snowmobilers and alot of businesses here depend on sesonal work like snow plouing and snowmobile repair so I think people might finaly stop being so depressed about the snow.

I also have a snow day! :p

I might still have to shovel out my ar to get my other half to work, we'll see.

What job are you in?

I'm thinking of going back to school in something fabrication based. I would like to try my hand at metal working or a machinist. I've never really been suited for a "white collar".

Unfortunatly as with everything else in my province, the job market for that is sporadic.

General Chat / Any Mummers 'Loud in?
December 10, 2009, 05:18:39 PM
I don't know what you guys do for Christmas traditions but I'm going mummering this weekend!

In the Newfoundland sense  of mummering we just dress up in a silly disguise and go to houses and jig and get druuunk(now obviously you can't be as willy nilly with it now as you where back in the day what with the pedophiles and murderers running amok)

Here is a song about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E86bcriRtW8 (it was made in the 70's I'm sure, be gentle)

Now as a warning I'm sure if you do this other than in a province/town that is aware that this kind of thing exists YOU.WILL.BE.SHOT please mummer at your own risk!

Shiny http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Wave#Etymology

The only real time collaboration I ever do requires me to be there in person. Although, I will be all over this as soon as I find out how to connect my foot to someones face through the internet.

What? WHAT? When did this happen? I don't know how I feel about a sixth addition to the trilogy that is not by Douglas Adams.

Has any one here read this novel? How does it measure up? I mean, aside from being 5.5 x 8.25.

Yeah I'm expecting to crash it a few times, with video!. It's only made of foam so I'm hoping it wont crash into 100 pieces and I can put it back together. I actually have a smaller plane as well that was for my birthday (my birthday is on dec 22 and the cessna one is for a Christmas gift.) I was *supposed* to learn on this smaller one for a few weeks while waiting for the cessna to get in. We didn't get the right batteries for the small plane and when we adapted a bigger battery (that was too heavy for it anyway)we found out that the receiver didn't work as well. So now we are waiting on those parts for my small one and the cessna just happened to show up first.

All the stuff Andrew and I have right now is battery powered although I do want to get a nitro R/C offroad truck, and gas airplane sometime :p. I'll learn on the battery stuff though.
