Hi!

I was trying to install a php script, and wasnt able to... So I asked for support and on my error log, it shows that I need PEAR to be installed.

The man that gave me support told me to ask my ISP to install PEAR:

he said:
your server doesn't have Pear installed. Pear is a very common PHP framework which is usually installed by default in Linux installations.

You should ask your ISP to install Pear. I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't.

So I ask you to, if you want... please :)

thanks!

First off, who are you? "tompouce" is not a username I recognize. If your username on the forum isn't the same as your XN account, you need to be sure and mention your account name when you ask for help. Secondly, what script are you trying to install? PEAR is not A (single) framework. It's a library with many (over 100) separate packages. A list of available packages for Gentoo (the OS the server runs) is here. http://packages.gentoo.org/search/?sstring=pear-

While PEAR is fairly common, it's not something I think should be installed "by default." You're actually the first person in over 5 years who seems to need it. I'm not saying I won't install it, but I'd like to see what script you're trying to install, and exactly what's going wrong first. I suspect there might be something else amiss.

Oh sorry, my username is late

(I cleaned up all my shit from my space like you asked me to :P)

And I want to install a little file manager call KFM Kae's File manager (http://kfm.verens.com/)

And here's my support post:
http://kfm.verens.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=39

I want to have this file manager because it has ajax dragndrop and many nice utilities that other dont have.
I want it to manager my files from anywhere, without a ftp client.

So it would be nice to you if you could install it :)

Thank you so much! And don't worry I'm not doing bad stuff on your server :P

Ah... actually... Did you read that last email I sent? How you've set world readable permissions on a lot of stuff in your account, and how that's a serious security concern? They're still like that. As a matter of fact, have you looked at your homepage? http://late.xepher.net/ That was done using the test account "koda" but could've likewise been done by anyone.

Quite frankly, I'm not thrilled with the idea of letting you set up a web-based file manager that could potentially make your account even less secure, when you haven't resolved the issues I already pointed out before. Also, what is your site actually for/about? As it looks like you're mostly using it for a file dump.
