Xepher NewsBox content rules?
« on: December 19, 2007, 08:08:02 am »
I just noticed yny-u has a nude on her ad... I was wondering if this should be something that me push a bit too much for other sites that may have younger audiences?

I mean, it's art yes, but for, say, Ardra, a comic at a PG rating and recently got link on FamilyWebcomics.com (WC-10)... might we set a sorta rating just for the ads?

Or am I out of line? It just kinda popped in my head...

I'm tired, I mighta jumped the gun.

Hmm...I haven't had a chance to peruse the "gallery" of ads yet, so I can't say, but that does sound like something I, for one, wouldn't want associated with my work.  (Nothing against Yny-u, just that type of work, nudes and suchlike, in general)

And yeah, I know of at least a few smallish children who read Beastling/PE, so I should think there'd be rules for the ads, or at least a way to block certain ones.

I don't think you're out of line, Fes.  Personally, I find nothing wrong with the ad.  I doubt it would affect visitors to my site.  However, I do have to wonder why nudes were chosen when there are so many other good candidates for the banner system.  Or why the nudes weren't cropped to show only a portion, such as a head, a hand, or something benign like that.

Thank you for pointing that out... I hadn't realized that. I likewise hadn't thought it needed to be specified, but you're right. The box/banner ads need to be PG rated or lower. That means no cuss words, no nudity, and nothing more than "cartoon" violence. I've temporarily blocked the two yny-u ads, but I can't email the owner, as the email became invalid after moving the domain to here.

Yny-u: Contact me about this!

EDIT: And just in case it wasn't understood... please feel free to contact me about ANY ad you see you think might be questionable, or if you have questions about your own ad (preferably BEFORE you upload it.)

Sorry about this everyone. I should have thought about what I was putting up - that it would be appearing on a bunch of other people's pages, not just my own. I just grabbed two of my recent drawings and...

Thanks for bringing this up fesworks - better to get this sort of thing fixed sooner rather than later.

@Xepher: contacted.
