After the string of repeated security holes in phpBB, I've decided to move the forums over to a new system. Not only are is it now different software on the front side, it's now running SQLite on the backend as well. This should be a lot faster, as it doesn't utilize the MySQL server at all. I was going to try and migrate everything from the old forums... but it proved too difficult. I also think it might be good to start off fresh, as we had a LOT of dead users on the old boards.
Anyway, start trying this new one out. You'll have to create a new user here, but everything should be pretty easy to use. I'll be leaving the old forums up for another month or so, while I see how this works out. Also, don't post any applications here yet.
Do you know that the img tags are currently turned off for this forum?
well, on signatures, the img tage seems to be turned on for posts
Yes, it's turned off in signatures. Call it facist, but I just don't like seeing these huge images tagged on to every single post.

Yay! Forums that disable images in posts! *kicks dial up* I did notice that the old forums loaded very slowly, but had no idea why. Most of the other places I visit on occasion use invision or something remotely known.

Perfect example... No offense, but you're posting a single line of text, and complaining that four lines of signature is too little. I'm probably a bit old fashioned, but I think signatures are meant to just be that little bit at the end of a letter or post.

hehe this new forum is pretty cool . . . and I gotta agree with Xepher, sigs have escalated into some sort of evil post-eating monsters in a lot of forums. I'm happy with just my little line of text, thankyouverymuch~ :D

I do sorta like that PhpBB has the javascript setup for the BBCode tags, some people don't know how to use the code otherwise.
Yeah, but that javascript was flakey at best. If you didn't do things just right, it'd drop tags in wrong places, or in one worst-case scenario I had, eat the entire post.
It'd be cool to have a kinda flash forum, perhaps I'll design one when I get into flash more.

I like these new forums. I myself am using the Cobalt skin. It makes me feel good to see the blue and not burn my eyes out with the bright bright white background.
As for the images in signatures... thank you Xepher. I don't much like them either. I mean, the small ones are okay but seeing the same thing over and over again is just frusterating.
As for dead users. I swear I am not dead! I have a fresh new start here and I plan to move into action!
I have another suggestion, but more for the old forums. PhpBB has a feature to lock forums, so why not lock all the non-application forums on the old board and place a "moved to" announcement at the tops of them?
I will shortly here. For now, it's a good honeypot to see who doesn't pay much attention. :-)
Well. *huffs* I read about the move but I, having slight ADD, never bothered to read the dates on those posts and completely forgot about them by the time I wanted to make a post. I know I'm silly like that. I hadn't crossed over a link to the new forums though, so it did surprise me when you linke dme here. :x

It's great that this board dosen't take as long as the old one did and all....it was soooooooo slow.

Awesome, now we won't lose a lot of the good threads that were in the old forums. Considering there is no way you could transfer the data in a full and reliable manner (without bringing junk over with it) it's nice to continue to have that archive. However, if you want, you could change all the forums under PhpBB to read only.
I may at some point in the future, but it matters little.
Hehe, well I'm glad to see that at least some link to the past remains...although I doubt I'll start sifting through that until my next vacation (and I probably wouldn't be able to read all of it even then).

I changed mine to the cobalt skin as well. There's just something pleaseing about greys and blues...
