Yeah, see the other thread about the overnight glitch. Bottom line, I'm working on it.

So, I upgraded some software on the server last night for a "minor security fix" Of course, the slightly newer version completely changed the layout of all config files. I complained about this in another thread already, but bottom line is I had to rewrite most of the webserver config from scratch. I think I got it all working, but I could've missed a bit of stuff here and there.

Then I wake up this morning, and all sorts of weird errors are cropping up. Took me 30 minutes to figure out what was even going on. It looked like permission problems or some such. But no, all that was fine. Turns out the root partition was full, as this month's traffic has been quite high, and the log file is well over 2 gigabytes in size.

Before you ask, no, deleting stuff you don't need won't help. The home/user directories are on a seperate partition. What helped, was that I had to go delete a whole lot of junk left from software builds, old logs, and various other cruft. We should be good now, and I apologize for the trouble.

More software upgrades... and they changed the entire layout for the webserver configuration. As such, I had to rewrite most of it from scratch to match the new layout. I have, of course, been tweaking bits of this for the past 3 years, so it's possible I missed a few custom pieces here and there. Let me know if anything acts weird or broken.

Just the way the program works. When it starts over it tries to reload the file. Maybe try disabling (or lowering) any cache settings for quicktime.

Drinking age should be defined as "Can you see over the bar to order?" Or maybe just a "You must be this tall to enter" sign by the door. :-)

Quote from: taspacecampjh*rolls eyes* thats a new ebil for her...
Alright as orders from my Lt. and mostly doing this by my own good will I appoligise for and trouble I have stirred here on this Faulse alarm.
No need to apologize. Amber did warn me in advance and ask me to play along. I'm actually glad to see others are trying to be good samaritans when they see a problem. Had this been a real incident, letting me know that quickly could've saved further data loss, and maybe even let me find out who/what was behind it. I do think it was a bit "ebil" of her to do to ya'll though, and I hope this joke doesn't prevent you from being alert and helpful in the future.

Yeah, I felt the same way, but Amber thought it would be funny... and it was her site, so I agreed to go along with it.

For those of you who didn't catch the end of this saga... The result is that it was prank. Mike was redesigning the site, and amber thought it'd be funny if instead of just taking the site down, he did the fake "hack" thing instead. Yes, I knew about it in advance, which is why I was rather unresponsive to these complaints. As I told Amber, 'tis a good thing I didn't have to answer any of this (or the emails I recieved) face to face, as I couldn't keep a straight look on mine!

Anyway, no harm done, and I hope no one's too angry for being jerked around a bit.

General Chat / Holy crap, is this true?

I honestly don't know. I was playing last night and there was no mention of anything like that, even when I spent an hour in Ironforge (major city.) I'd guess it's a hoax, but it sounds plausible from what I know of how the WoW engine works.

Heheh... Definitely has to be one time checking out of the grocery store in college. It was a thursday night, the main party night at my school (we're slackers... friday is part of the weekend) and I'm checking out with a four-pack of Guinness draught, a six-pack of Paulaner Hefe-Weizen, a bottle of Arogant Bastard Ale ("You're Not Worthy!"), and the Lion King on DVD. Never have I seen more confusion on someone's face when they're trying to decide if they need to ask for ID. :-)

Oh, and Blue Hawaian? Is that Coconut Rum + Blue Caraco + Sprite?
