Yeah, there's no IRC involved. I'd much rather use IRC as well, but that's the one prohibition of my hosting contract. I can't run IRC without being on their special (ed) IRC network. Here's the reason... 90% of IRC is used for piracy or hacking/war. No joke... before they split the IRC lusers off to their own network, my intrusion detection was reading hundreds of attacks and scans every day. Now (at least until that hacking attempt last week) it's only a few a day. I'm not willing to run on the same network as that many infected and evil computers, so I had to find another solution for chat.

The issue has been brought to my attention and is being dealt with.

Indeed! I'm getting an internet radio setup going. http://xepher.net:8000/ It won't be up all the time of course. If you don't see a stream listed there, then I'm offline. Mostly it's just whatever I'm playing on my computer here.

This weekend though...

I want to have a party. We've got a chatroom at http://xepher.net/chat and I've got the radio setup going. It'll obviously be a BYOB affair, but otherwise, we should have everything we need for a party.

I'm going to give other people the chance to DJ for a while. What you'll need is a plugin for winamp... http://www.oddsock.org/tools/oddcastv3/ to let you put a stream on the server. If you want to test it out before then, the source password is "cow" and the server is xepher.net, on port 8000. Mess with it. I'd suggest you use OGG vorbis encoding, and quality level 0, but in stereo. Trust me, it sounds just fine there. Play with it, and point a friend or two at the main radio page, and your stream should show up and they can listen. If you're technically minded, and have another method in mind... just know it's an icecast2 server, and you can use whatever program you want to create your stream. I may actually be doing a bit of live DJing, since I have a microphone and everything.

Anyway, we need to figure out a time that most people can come hang out. I'm thinking friday or saturday night... probably rather late. Let me know what times work or don't for ya'll, and I'll make a final decision in the next day or so.

Yes, there is a kernel-exec support, but that's... iffy. You still have to bring down the entire system to do it, it just saves you from having to run back through BIOS. That wasn't my worry. It was more that the new kernel would fail... that problem still happens if you use kexec.

As for blocking repeated logins, that should be up and going now.

Well, it beats that hollywood POS hands down. That movie was just so awful. At least in this one they didn't TRY to get all deep and mystical. Baldwins can't do "mystical" and people in hollywood should learn this.

I think it's definitely different. If it works as intended, it could be awesome. I can already imagine playing soul calibur where I actually have to swing at my opponent. Great fun for multiplayer games like that. The Wavebird was my favorite interface design of all time. On the other hand, the powerglove was a total failure, and so was the virtual boy. They're batting .500 so we're just gonna have to see what happens when I get my grubby paws on one and try it out.

Watched that a couple days ago. Amazing visuals, abysmal plot. Everything was just an excuse to have a physics-defying sword fight. And not nearly enough Red XIII or Mog!

Ghosts, Ghasts, Ghouls, Mummies, Vampires, Skeletons, Zombies, Death Knights, Liches....

There are plenty of undead types.

Ghosts: Okay... maybe. I'm not sure the "Un" applies though.
Ghasts: Not undead... Variety of Ghouls in D&D or Humonoid creatures in Lovecraft's stuff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghasts

Mummies: As mentioned, just zombies with style!
Vampires: Agreed, Undead!
Skeletons: Zombies with no style what so ever! :-)
Death Knights: Umm... too many mythos here. Mostly just a zombie with armor though.
Liches: Mummies that got it right. (Preserving the soul in a canopic jar to avoid death.)

(And yes, I argue just for the sake of it!)

Bah, mummies are just zombies with better fashion sense!

Though I suddenly had this image in my head of a shop-teacher mummy rising from the grave. He's wrapped in duct-tape and going on a rampage with WD-40.

Depends on what you classify as "undead." Vampires: Yes. Zombies: Yes. But are werewolves undead? What else? I honestly can't think of any other types of undead... unless you count frankensteinian monsters.
