tricky tricky! (art and comics)
« on: April 05, 2009, 04:47:17 am »
helloooo! after a couple years of wanting to get a website together, i'm finally getting to it, yay.

username i hope to get: tricky

email: bladerena[at]yahoo[dot]com

i want my site to be a personal art/comic website, and a nice little compilation of my works. i would like a place to put my art (that isn't deviantart) and my comics so they'll all be organized and in one place.

http://home.graffiti.net/bladerena/ <--- this is what i've got for now. i know the layout isn't very exciting, but it's my first attempt! it has examples of my art in the gallery, which i definitely plan to expand, but for more here is my deviantart gallery: http://iatethealphabet.deviantart.com
and the comics section (all past five pages wooo!), has links to my comics, which are hosted on smackjeeves. THOSE specific comics will probably remain there, i hope this isn't a problem? i have shorter comics i would also like to put on the site, at some time.

thank you for reading my application :D

there is art on the site that isn't on my deviantart and also comics that are not on my smackjeeves account...
i didn't want to add too much content until i could get somewhere else to host the images that isn't photobucket.

i don't really know what you mean by fleshed out.... q_p
because i thought that answer was pretty simple. i want my site to contain my art and my comics. everything on that site is my content.

Sorry, my mistake!  I fail.  orz

I guess I can make a constructive comment on your design.  The menu is quite small and I honestly didn't notice it when running through your site.  The Misc. comics page has a "hmmmmm?" rather than direct my eye to the side menu while the Illustration page has a nice arrow pointing to the left but no content showing up under it.  I attached a screencap of what I see on the Illustration page.  It's also not a good idea to make your header/titles the same color as your links, unless you use a size difference because I clicked on all your header/titles on the Illustration page before giving up.

With that being said, your comics look awesome.  I hope you get in.  If HTML isn't your strong point, I'd recommend a CMS to make the site more user friendly.

haha, the "hmmm"! i meant to delete that when i set the page up ;__;'' can't believe i forgot.... now i've changed it so it's like the illustration page.
i have NO idea why it's doing that on the illustration page though, the text shows up white when i view it...
the image i've attached is how it should look.

thank you very much for your input, griever~! i will look into that, orz this is my first time building something like this so i do appreciate the feedback.

I looked at your code and my guess is that it would be better to use a graphic rather than text.  Symbols don't translate well, unless they're in html code, I think.  Unless it is and my browser is being weird.  I'm on Firefox 3.0.  But I'm guessing that's why I'm showing blanks instead of what you see.

I'm considering this one still. Anyone else have a feeling one way or another?

hello hello, i'm just commenting now because i haven't heard anything in a while, and letting you know i'm still interested.

also that host i'm using now seems to like spontaneously deleting my pages, so if there's anything broken, just tell me and i can put the page back up.....

Alright, I'm slow as ever in getting to these things... but I think I'm willing to say yes on this one, provided you're still interested.
