On the Help/FAQ page, it's recommended that you use WinSCP if you have Windows.  (I have a Mac and use Cyberduck.)  You'll want to set up the connection using SCP, not SFTP or FTP.  I think it's a security thing.

Sorry for the lack of clarity, I'm referring more to the writing on the website than on DA.

How much HTML do you know?  I'm completely unfamiliar with OfficeLive.  There isn't any WYSIWYG editor at Xepher, so everything will have to be handcoded anyway.

I'm not sure either, Xepher...I was hoping someone else would respond too.

There are some things I kind of like and some things I really dislike.  I like that your DA page shows improvement and some of the more recent art, especially the hand-colored ones, are pretty nice.  I'm not really getting the dolly comics though and don't feel compelled enough to read the writing, although that may be the lack of web formatting that's ruining it for me.  The updates are also pretty sporadic, if the history page is accurate.  Given that your focus is stories and artwork, I think DA is working out fairly well and not really sure that an independent website is necessary.

Who knows how the recession's swinging, but Oregon's got pretty bad unemployment right now.  But you're tech, so you'll probably have more luck.  I'm not sure whether to insert a smiley or a frown face because I'm unhappily unemployedish.

Is the St. John's you'd like to the one in Annapolis?  If so, I have a friend who went there and she could probably give you an idea of what's involved.  She transferred out though, so there might be some bias, but I think she could give it a fair review of the good and bad stuff.

Nice!  I have a question - if you get a Xepher account, will you put up things like character bio/drawing pages, random art sketches, etc?  I know a lot of other comic writers have these things on their sites and I feel that it adds more to the characters/world they've created.

The revision still didn't provide more on the plot/direction of the comic.  All I've gotten is that the human race went extinct a while ago and these characters are trying to save, or more accurately, revive it.  Plenty of character description to go around though.  I sympathize with having to work with MS Paint but I'm not drawn in by the dialog either, with its frequent taco references and misspellings.

This will probably come out sounding wrong, but honestly, I like your DA page better than your website.  It hurts my eyes and there's a huge scrolling on every page (Firefox 3.5.1) and I don't like having to download your comic in a zip, although I feel that's a space/bandwidth problem and not necessarily by choice.  But on your DA page, your non-comic drawing looks pretty darn good to me (Squirrel's Branch, Ember Hiding in particular) and you can see an evolution in style, which is nice.  The 3D stuff is pretty cool too.

But I'm just not getting into the comic.  I like squirrels, comics (Japanese and US), and video games, but I'm not sure I like all 3 in the same comic.  Major points for 73 page longevity, but the sudden switch from hand-drawn, to a hand-drawn/video game mix, to a complete video game comic turns me off.  Will the new comic be a mix like before, or will you settle on a style and stick with it?

The whole Nazi thing is pretty stupid.  The people who get a chance to say that just make themselves and their "cause" look even dumber.  Even my staunchly conservative friends agree that those people are plain crazy.

My general feeling on this is that when people get sick, they shouldn't have to worry about whether they can afford to get well.  Right now, insurance companies need a wake up call because all they care about is money.  Denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions, or refusing to cover people who suddenly develop a serious illness, is absolutely repulsive.

It's not really a block, it's more like a welcome rant.

THANK YOU, XEPHER!  That was me.  I reported it on WP's forums with several other people.  I actually had noticed that in RC1 prior to June 10th, but I assumed it was an error on their part.  I rarely try out anything except the stable releases, but 2.7's obsession with autosaves was driving me up the wall.  It clogged up my tables. :(

Thanks...things are awkward now but it will sort itself all out soon, I hope.  I dunno.  More worried about Dad than anyone else.

@JM: I sympathize with the babies, but it still irks me too.  Had that multiple times to and from Japan and around the 8th hour, I really wanted to cry too.

ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MALE HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE PLANET.

Dive bars and strip clubs, sob for your loss of revenue.  I, however, will be enjoying homemade waffles on Saturdays and never have cold feet again in winter.  Wedding was yesterday.
