Announcements / Outage on June 1st
June 02, 2011, 04:36:46 AM
Apache was down for most of the day, as I didn't get home from work until just now. It appears the monthly log rotation didn't properly restart things after it finished this morning. I've fixed it and things are now back up and running. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you to all of you that sent me messages to let me know.

EDIT: I've set up server monitoring on my phone now. Hopefully that'll help me catch things a lot quicker next time there's a problem.

General Chat / Re: Things you should see...

Oh wow...

So there were suggested videos after that, and I clicked things...

And kept clicking.
And clicking.
And clicking...

I've now spent the past two hours watching My Little Pony videos. Who am I supposed to see to turn in my Man Card again?

General Chat / Things you should see...

So I'm sick of only posting to facebook, and thinking "I want to share awesome stuff..." Then it occured to me, I have a website with it's own forum!

So here's some cool things I think everyone should see.

Who else has stuff we should see? Especially stuff that hasn't been linked a million times on other sites? I swear, the first person to mention raptor rapture gets a special face-punch. :-P

Nikon D80, ISO 100, Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens at 18mm, F/8.0, 5.3s exposure.

The exposure was just freehand, manually opening and closing the shutter between strikes.

Yeah, I'm sorry... but it doesn't really fit. While I respect the purpose your working towards, the focus here is on art and creative output. Best of luck to you though!

Announcements / Server Updates... Especially Email
April 08, 2011, 10:42:39 AM
I've been updating the server software again, and will be doing more upgrades tomorrow as well. The main upgrade so far is the mail system. I've upgraded both the mailserver itself, and the spam filtering system. Part of this involved retraining everyone's spam filters from the cached training they'd done before. I've tested several times with both of my accounts, and everything appears to be working, but please let me know if you find that any problems occur, especially when moving messages between folders (since that's when training occurs.) Also note that the mailserver was down for several hours while I did this, so some mail may be delayed for a few hours.

Tomorrow I'll be doing some (hopefully minor) updates to apache and PHP. Nothing like the major update that caused all the problems before, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Announcements / Re: I Mucked Up PHP
February 26, 2011, 11:01:11 AM
Yeah, but I have more ram than common sense. :-)

It wasn't even filling up, it was just causing problems anyway. Oh well, I give up on it anyway. I'll try again with php 6.
#144
It looks like part of the stuff I disabled in the rewrites was still required. I've edited your .htaccess file again, and I can at least browse through your comics now. Let me know if there are other problems still.
#145
The dashboard thing (undefined function error) was APC and my fault. The rest is not (as far as I know) related to anything I did. What pages are broken still? Try updating/clearing the page cache, and uninstalling or maybe reinstalling any cache plugins, see if that fixes it.
#146
Yeah, I was still mucking with PHP. Something in wordpress really doesn't like APC. I tried to turn it back on and adjust some settings, but it just breaks things apparently. I just made an announcement explaining/apologizing. Things should be working for you again, and I'm leaving APC off this time. :-)

Announcements / I Mucked Up PHP
February 21, 2011, 03:04:26 AM
Yeah... my fault. I tried enabling APC (an opcode cache) that is intended to speed up PHP processing. However, it caused a lot of sites (especially wordpress installs) to have random glitches and errors. I've disabled APC, because I'd rather thing NOT break, even if it means burning a bit more CPU time, and it's not like the server is overloaded or anything. Anyway, if you had trouble with random PHP errors, check again, and I apologize for the trouble or confusion it might have caused.
#148
I've manually disabled the cache by editing wp-config.php and set WP_CACHE to false, and backed up .htaccess to .htaccess.cache and removed all the WP-CACHE rewrites in that. Your page is now showing up correctly again. http://www.lastres0rt.com/

Turns out, this wasn't because of the APC plugin I was messing with, though I found some other errors (on other people's sites) related to that, so it's been disabled again as well.

Technical Support / Re: Possibly PHP-related questions
February 20, 2011, 11:31:44 PM
Yeah, that's most likely it. If you catch it while it's updating stats, it'll throw errors since it can't read the new file yet.
#150
I was poking around with PHP last night, so it's possible something I did changed things as well. Can you tell me where the folder you can't delete is? Also, what's the exact problem you're seeing... have an example URL that's broken?

EDIT: Sorry, I'm an idiot... "complete blank" is pretty obvious. :-)
