Yeah, but I have more ram than common sense. :-)

It wasn't even filling up, it was just causing problems anyway. Oh well, I give up on it anyway. I'll try again with php 6.

It looks like part of the stuff I disabled in the rewrites was still required. I've edited your .htaccess file again, and I can at least browse through your comics now. Let me know if there are other problems still.

The dashboard thing (undefined function error) was APC and my fault. The rest is not (as far as I know) related to anything I did. What pages are broken still? Try updating/clearing the page cache, and uninstalling or maybe reinstalling any cache plugins, see if that fixes it.

Yeah, I was still mucking with PHP. Something in wordpress really doesn't like APC. I tried to turn it back on and adjust some settings, but it just breaks things apparently. I just made an announcement explaining/apologizing. Things should be working for you again, and I'm leaving APC off this time. :-)

Yeah... my fault. I tried enabling APC (an opcode cache) that is intended to speed up PHP processing. However, it caused a lot of sites (especially wordpress installs) to have random glitches and errors. I've disabled APC, because I'd rather thing NOT break, even if it means burning a bit more CPU time, and it's not like the server is overloaded or anything. Anyway, if you had trouble with random PHP errors, check again, and I apologize for the trouble or confusion it might have caused.

I've manually disabled the cache by editing wp-config.php and set WP_CACHE to false, and backed up .htaccess to .htaccess.cache and removed all the WP-CACHE rewrites in that. Your page is now showing up correctly again.

Turns out, this wasn't because of the APC plugin I was messing with, though I found some other errors (on other people's sites) related to that, so it's been disabled again as well.

Yeah, that's most likely it. If you catch it while it's updating stats, it'll throw errors since it can't read the new file yet.

I was poking around with PHP last night, so it's possible something I did changed things as well. Can you tell me where the folder you can't delete is? Also, what's the exact problem you're seeing... have an example URL that's broken?

EDIT: Sorry, I'm an idiot... "complete blank" is pretty obvious. :-)

Hmm... apparently I totally mangled the sendmail stuff, so forms that email were definitely broken. I think I got it working again though. You probably have a couple test form emails from me already. Sorry about it being broken, I don't use that myself, so I don't notice.

As for awstats, it looks to be working fine.

If you're having some specific problem with that, just let me know what and I'll look into it more.

Hi Ani,

What's your username? If you give me that, I can check the logs on the server to see what the problem is. If you're not a member, you may need to contact your actual webhost for help with your SSH connection problem.

What exactly is timing out? SCP? If that's the case, do note that there's a lockout for bad passwords. If you mistype your password or something a few times in a row it'll lock you out for several hours (and longer if you keep trying.)

Saw that you have some of the site up... just a quick note. Your main background image... is 1.4MB in size. It'd literally take an entire floppy disk to store that. Which, yes, floppies outdated and all that, but considering every single page of your site requires loading that entire image, it means it will suck up a HUGE amount of bandwidth if your site gets even remotely popular. The background is nearly twice as large as the comic itself. If you look at your stats your site is using about 7.5MB per visit! Compare that with some of the other large comic sites here like or at 500kb and 300kb respectively. You don't have to squeeze down quite that small of course, and it'll be less for frequent visitors who'll have the unchanging things like background cached more often, but do try to conserve bandwidth just a bit. No worries for now while you're still working on stuff though, we've got a lot of bandwidth to spare, but before you get much traffic, it'd be good to have it optimized.

Sorry, I should have caught this earlier... you didn't list a username you wanted. As per the application instructions, it'll be part of your URL (when/if not using your own domain.) I've gone ahead and used "alternates" and you should get an email soon with a password and instructions.

Well, I haven't set up the account yet. As I mentioned in email though, I will... I work an odd schedule and have to rush off to work right now. Tomorrow is the start of my weekend though. If you don't hear something from me in a day or so, remind me!
